I had to throw "lacing system" into the title because I was a bit nervous you would think this blog was spiraling down a rabbit hole of X- rated content. Hickies are these incredibly cool straps that you put in place of traditional laces on shoes. They concept is that instead of lacing or unlacing your sneakers each time you want to put them on, Hickies allows your shoes to be slip on because the straps expand and contract.
Ed and I both gave them a try, so that we could give you the perspective of two totally different uses while wearing them. Ed was a bit hesitant, largely due to the fact that he needs his laces to be tight while working out and wasn't sure how well Hickies would hold up. He said they with held a tough workout at Crossfit and never once made his shoes feel loose or uncomfortable. I could tell he was a bit surprised about how much he liked them. Hickies has three different ways in which you can lace the straps depending on the fit you want. Ed chose the tightest fit, I chose the regular fit.
I on the other hand did not go to the gym today. I exercised in my living room, ran the kids around town and made dinner. Throughout the course of the day I probably took my shoes on and off at least 5 times and for exactly that reason I don't often wear sneakers outside of the gym. I have to say Hickies made it incredibly easy for my to throw my shoes on when the dogs were asking for a walk and then quickly step out of them.
Both of my kids are still pretty small, so their shoes are all velcro but I could see Hickies being an awesome thing to save time and hassle with little ones. I also think these are a super cool stocking stuffer. I love unique finds and these are totally going into my mom's stocking. Do you own a pair? Send me a picture, I would love to see it.
